Magic Bands are an essential accessory for any Disney World vacation! These little beauties haven’t been introduced in Disneyland yet, but if you want a smooth-as-possible vacation experience, Magic Bands will be the key. You can order your Magic Band ahead of time through the app so they’ll be ready for you when you check into your hotel. If you're staying on Disney property you can wait until you get there and they’ll give you a random color (usually grey) when you check in. The free colors of Magic Bands are red, green, blue, orange, pink, blue, and grey.
Through the My Disney Experience App you can link your Magic Band to your park ticket, FastPass+ experiences, and your hotel reservation so you can use it as a room key. You can even link a credit card once you check in so you can make purchases with your Magic Band.
Disney sells different types of Magic Bands inside the park if you want to upgrade from the free color range. The offerings range from seasonal releases like Halloween and Christmas themes, specific movie themes like Aladdin, or special colors like millennial pink or black. Magic Bands also have an adjustable strap and are waterproof, and a section of the band can be removed to make it fit a smaller wrist more comfortably.
If you do purchase one of these special Magic Bands it’s easy to switch over to using it. You can link that Magic Band through your MDEA and all your information will transfer over, or you can take it to Guest Relations or the front desk at your Disney hotel and they will link it for you.
Magic Bands make it easy to keep all your essentials like a credit card, park ticket, FastPass+ experiences, and your room key all in one place–conveniently around your wrist! I love this new system. Back in the days of plastic park tickets and room keys it was easy for things to get lost, and my parents would always have to hold our park tickets and room keys, but now it's easy for the whole family to keep their bands on and head to the parks!
I think my favorite part about it is the ease with which you can have all your vacation essentials literally at your fingertips. I only need one bracelet to get me into the parks, my hotel room, to scan my FastPass+ experiences, and to purchase things in the parks. If you're a light traveler you can grab your Magic Band and head out without a purse or backpack, and that makes it easier for you to get into the parks since you won't have to go through bag check.
