Hello!
I've just returned from my most recent trip to Disney World! As you can probably guess from the title, today I want to talk about and share some photos of the castle's new paint job!
It was announced I believe very early this year that the castle would undergo a new paint job for Walt Disney Resort's fiftieth birthday celebration. The concept art, pictured here was so beautiful and I think very warmly received by everyone. It brought out some nice new gold accents and brightened up the colors, but kept the castle color scheme similar to what it originally was.
And then they started painting, and pictures circulated the internet of what seemed to be a VERY pink top section of the castle. Many people thought it looked way too pink, or that they were trying to copy the colors of the new Disneyland castle's color scheme, which got a nice refresh of its pink and blue color scheme not too long ago.
I will say I was skeptical. The pink looked very very pink from the photos, but I remained cautiously optimistic about this new paint job. I think what also contributed to everyone's unease is the fact that Disney closed it's doors just as they started major headway into this endeavor, so the public now wouldn't see the new paint job until it was pretty much done.
I thought this was kind of exciting, so I patiently awaited the big day, when they would finally reveal the castle paint job and I could see it again, and boy did they deliver! They released the photos and it looked beautiful, and after going to see it myself in the parks I must say it is even more beautiful in person! The colors they chose are almost iridescent, so in different lighting, at different times of the day, they almost change. In the mornings and the evenings, the pink looks more rosy and shiny, then in the afternoon it looks dustier and less intense. I don't know what the heck kind of paint does that, but it is truly beautiful! And the gold adds such a nice detail to the whole castle, and the almost indigo-colored turrets are also slightly iridescent and can look like they have a purple tinge in certain lighting. The makeover looks fit for royalty!
I am a huge fan! Here are some photos I took of the castle, please enjoy them in all of their beautiful, freshly painted iridescent goodness
