The Grand Floridian is one of my favorite resorts on Disney property. It is so beautiful and is pretty large. The main building features a huge open lobby that has a grand piano and a live band that plays in the evenings.
The Grand Floridian also features a handful of shops in the resort, from a place to restock on food if you're staying in a villa, to a boutique fashion store, to a place to get all your souvenirs. The resort also has a hair salon, Basin White soap shop, and a spa if you're feeling like you want to treat yourself.
The Grand Floridian Cafe, Citricos, Gasparilla Grill, The Garden View Tea Room, 1900 Park Fare, and Victoria and Albert's are all located in the Grand Floridian Resort! Gasparilla Grill is their quick service restaurant, the Tea Room serves afternoon tea starting at noon, the Grand Cafe is a more casual dining option, 1900 Park Fare is a character dining experience with Mary Poppins, the Mad Hatter, Alice, and Pooh Bear meeting during breakfast and Cinderella, Prince Charming, Anastasia, Drizella, and Lady Tremaine meeting during dinner, Citricos is a bit fancier, and Victoria and Albert's is crazy fancy and is known outside of Disney World as being one of the best fine dining restaurants in the country.
I haven't stayed at the Grand Floridian in a while, but the last time we did stay there we stayed at the Villas, which were still relatively new when we stayed. We had a pretty big group when we stayed here, it was me, my three siblings, my mom and dad, and my grandma and grandpa. The room was super nice and the location is unbeatable since it's on the monorail line.
I mean, if you ever get the chance I would DEFINITELY recommend staying at the Grand Floridian. The elegance is unbeatable, and the location is great! However, if I had a choice between the resorts on the monorail line I would definitely choose the Polynesian every time. Personally I enjoy the theming at the Polynesian better, and i also think they've got more adventurous options for food choices around the resort!
A great perk about staying at the Grand Floridian would be staying there at Christmas time. They've got the most beautiful Christmas decorations ever, and they also set up a larger than life gingerbread house in the lobby which they actually sell Christmas treats and gingerbread out of. It's fantastic!
