Food For Thought: The Garden View Tea Room

Writer's picture: Theresa Theresa

I love tea and scones and tiny sandwiches, so what better place for me to have lunch than the Garden View Tea Room at the Grand Floridian? I've only been to this restaurant once, but it made a long lasting impression on me. It is located right at the back of the Grand Floridian lobby, and has a beautiful view of the resort grounds.

I have to include the description of the Tea Room from the Disney website because it is too good not to share. "Within the walls of the Garden View Tea Room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, prepare to treat yourself to a rare and unforgettable event as you indulge in the relaxing ambience of an era long since passed. Tour the globe as you sip from a collection of international teas—including Mrs. Potts Tea for your little ones—all while indulging in a delightful selection of sandwiches, scones, pastries and other delicacies." Honestly, that says it all.

The Garden View Tea Room is open from noon to 4:00pm for afternoon tea. These small experiences are what I love doing best at Disney World, because they are so unique. I wouldn't be able to go to a spot like this outside of Disney, so going to a place like this in Disney is just too good to be true!

It's been a while since I ate here, but I do remember everything being very delicious, and the service was really great. I wish I could remember what tea I got when I went. I may have been something like the Mad Hatter's blend, but it was really floral and super delicious. They bring you your own teapot that the tea steeps in, and they even bring out a velvet tea cozy to keep the pot warm.

The food they have there is very small but so delicious, and it's super aesthetically pleasing if you're in the market for a new Instagram post. It's "tea food" for all intents and purposes–just small, super tasty sandwiches and pastries. My favorite by far was the cucumber sandwich, but they also had an egg salad sandwich and a salmon sandwich when I went. I wish I could link the menu, but I don't think Disney actually has it up on their website.

They also bring out a variety of pastries and little cakes that are absolutely perfect. The scones come with cream, butter, and jam which is so tasty. I'm a big fan of scones, so those were delightful.

And, fun fact, they actually do a Princess Tea Party at select times for the little ones, which is super cute. I believe Aurora along with another character called Rose Petal (don't quote me on that, there were really no specifics on Disney's website) attend.

So, all in all, if you're a fan of tea, afternoon tea, tea time, little finger foods, or a relaxing lunch experience, I would highly recommend The Garden View Tea Room!
