What We Ate: Flower and Garden 2019

Writer's picture: Theresa Theresa

Hello all! I had the BEST time on my recent Disney trip. We were there from March 6-10 which means I was there for the beginning of the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot!

Flower and Garden is my favorite festival at Epcot. They decorate the whole park with beautiful flowers and topiaries, and all the food from the different booths around the World Showcase are always delicious and unique!

Without further ado, let's get into everything we ate while at the Flower and Garden Festival this year!

The Honey Bee-stro Hosted by the National Honey Board

This booth is back from last years festival and I was so happy about it! We got the Roasted Cauliflower with Buckwheat Honey Carrot Purée, Wild Rice Pilaf, Asparagus, Honey-blistered Grapes, Sunflower Brittle and Coriander Flowers ($4.50), Honey Tandoori Chicken Flatbread with White Cheddar Cheese, Charred Vegetables, Clover Honey Sour Cream and Micro Citrus Greens ($5.50), and the Local Wildflower Honey-mascarpone Cheesecake with Orange Blossom Honey Ice Cream garnished with Fennel Pollen Meringue Kisses and Petite Lavender Shoots ($5.00). I really loved this booth last year, and the cauliflower was my favorite thing I ate from the 2018 festival. That being said, I liked this booth better last festival. The amount of cauliflower I got this year was definitely smaller, and I thought it wasn't as flavorful. It was still delicious, just not as good as last year!

BUT the cheesecake was SO good. It was super creamy and not too sweet but the honey flavor really shone through. It was the best thing at this booth!

Flavor Full Kitchen Hosted by AdventHealth

This booth is new to the festival this year! It's located on the same pathway as the Honey Bee-stro and is kind of tucked away up a side path that lets you out near Figment. We got the From the Garden: Roasted Beets, Cashew Cheese and Micro Herbs with Lemon-oil Dressing ($4.50). Now, here's the dealio. I don't really like beets and I've never really liked beets but my mom absolutely loves them so she was super excited to get this. At first I didn't really want to try it, but she had me take a little bite and let me tell y'all I think this is the best thing I ate at the festival this year. It was just so good and the beets didn't taste like how I remember beets tasting like. I don't even know how to describe it but it was SO yummy. I highly recommend this, even if you don't necessarily like beets. It was so delicious!

Fleur De Lys

I always like seeing the menu for the France booth. I never really want to get anything, however, last year they had an item I really wanted but never got the chance to try. And they brought it back this year so I got it! We got the Macaron au Chocolat en Sucette: Large Chocolate Macaron Lollipop ($5.25). I thought this was so delicious. I love chocolate and I love macarons, so everything about this was so perfect. It has a dusting of crushed walnuts (I think, it may have been peanuts, it didn't say) on one side which gave it a nice flavor. Really good if you're craving something chocolatey!

Florida Fresh

This booth is located right between France and Morocco and always has some really interesting flavors to try! We got the Spicy Blackened Shrimp and Cheddar Cheese Grits with Brown Gravy and Local Sweet Corn Relish ($7.00). It was really good! I was a neat twist on a kind of classic shrimp and grits. I kind of wish there was more shrimp and a little more of the relish, but overall very tasty!

Taste of Marrakesh

I didn't get the chance to snap a photo of what we had in Morocco, but we got the Fried Cauliflower with Capers, Garlic Parsley and Chili Ranch Sauce ($6.00). I love cauliflower, so I obviously liked this, but the seasonings were very strong. If you're really not good with spicy things then I'd recommend skipping this, but if you can handle a decent amount of spice I'd say get this. It was really delicious, but it was pretty spicy!

Primavera Kitchen

Classic, the photo I took of what we had here turned out super blurry, but we got the Zeppole: Ricotta Cheese Fritters, Powdered sugar, Raspberry Sauce and Chocolate-hazelnut Drizzle ($7.00). This was a really great way to end the night. It's basically fried dough with Nutella and a raspberry sauce and it was soooooo tasty. It will really hit the spot if you've got a craving for something sweet! This booth is in Italy!

Bauernmarkt: Farmer's Market

In Germany we got the Potato Pancake with Caramelized Ham, Onions and Herb Sour Cream ($4.75), Toasted Pretzel Bread topped with Black Forest Ham and Melted Gruyère Cheese ($5.25), and my mom got the Hugo Cocktail with Sparkling Wine, Elderflower and Mint ($9.50). This was probably my least favorite booth. The potato pancake was okay, and I enjoyed the pretzel bread, but there wasn't anything super special about this booth. It was still good, but not as good as some of the other things you can get around the festival!

Lotus House

China is always one of my favorite booths. The food here is always good and honestly the spring rolls are such a constant. At this booth we got the House-made Crab and Cheese Wontons ($6.00), and the Vegetable Spring Rolls ($4.50). The spring rolls are always so so good, but the crab and cheese wontons were really interesting! The crispiness of the dough was really nice. There wasn't a ton of filling in these but the crab flavor with the cheese was good!

Trowel & Trellis Hosted by IMPOSSIBLE Foods

This booth will be on your left right after you get out of the Mexico pavillion! We got the Grilled Street Corn on the Cob with Savory Garlic Spread ($5.50) and the Farmhouse Meatball with Lentil Bread, Spinach, Marinated Vegetables, Creamy Herb Dressing ($5.50). These two things were both SO delicious. These actually might be my other favorite things I ate at the festival besides the beets at Flavor Full. The corn is so well seasoned and the meatball is flavorful as well, and the lentil bread it's wrapped in has a really interesting texture and flavor. We also got the Bloomin’ Blueberry Lemon and Ginger Tea featuring Twinings of London® with Tito’s Handmade Vodka served in a Mason Jar ($15.00). I'd highly recommend this booth!

La Isla Fresca

This booth is located right after Trowel & Trellis. You'll pass right by it if you're heading to Mexico. We got the Sugar Cane Shrimp Skewer with Steamed Rice and Coconut Lime Sauce ($7.00), and the Tropical Freeze with Cruzan Mango Rum ($9.75) . I thought this was really tasty! It had great flavor and I really enjoyed the shrimp and the lime sauce was great! The drink was also really nice and very refreshing!

And that was everything we ate at the Flower and Garden Festival 2019! This year's festival was really really great! Honestly, I said this before but I really do think this is the best festival at Epcot. All the foods are so good and flowers and topiaries make everything so fun and vibrant. It really makes you feel like spring is upon us!
