Resort Tour: The Boardwalk

Writer's picture: Theresa Theresa

The Boardwalk is another resort that I love to stay at on my trips to Disney World. It's located just a few steps away from Epcot, and there's a walking path to Hollywood Studios. It's modeled after the boardwalks on the Jersey Shore, which also may be why I like it so much since New Jersey is my home state.

The Boardwalk has a lot to offer apart from the awesome location and guest rooms. The whole Epcot resort area boasts three hotels, Disney's Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club. They all are connected by the boardwalk and sit around Crescent Lake. You can browse all the offerings of the Yacht and Beach Club even if you're staying at the Boardwalk.

The Boardwalk has so much to offer–multiple restaurants, three pools, and is walking distance from two theme parks. The restaurants around the Boardwalk resort are: The Belle Vue Lounge, Big River Grille & Brewing Works, Flying Fish, AbracadaBar, Trattoria al Forno, the Pizza Window, BoardWalk Bakery, and ESPN Club. They also have multiple small food carts lining the boards that serve anything from pretzels, to mac and cheese bites, to margaritas. There's also a relatively new ice cream shop called Ample Hills Creamery that is SO good and has so many different and unique ice cream flavors. And of course there's always the pool bar, Leaping Horse Libations, in the main pool area!

There is one character dining experience at the Boardwalk, and that's the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast at Trattoria al Forno. Here you can have breakfast with Rapunzel, Flynn, Ariel, and Eric. Honestly, if you love meeting characters I highly recommend this breakfast, number one because you can meet Flynn and Eric who you can't meet anywhere else in the parks, and because the food is really good.

The walkway to Epcot is also super cool. This entrance to Epcot is never busy and there are never any lines here. This entrance lets you out at the International Gateway in the World Showcase, so you're right in between England and France. The last time I stayed here my mom heard that the bakery in France, Les Halles Boulangerie and Patisserie, opens before the rest of the World Showcase does for breakfast. So at nine a.m. we headed over and were allowed in to get breakfast there. It was so nice because everything was so quiet and peaceful, and if we wanted to we could have sat at the tables outside the Patisserie and eaten our food with nobody else in the park. It was really neat!

Even if you aren't staying at the Boardwalk I highly recommend checking this area out! It's a great place to grab dinner, watch some boardwalk entertainment, and take a little stroll–maybe even get some ice cream!
